DALE HOWARD TAKES THIRD USCS WIN OF THE SEASON AT TALLADEGA SHORT TRACK

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

              EASTABOGA, AL  – hh Dale Howard of Byhalia, MS won his third United Sprint Car Series Presented By Hoosier Racing Tire race of the season and swept the program on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.  The USCS point leader started on the outside of the front row, led all 30 laps of the Main event, and also won his eight-lap Heat Race.

               Derek Hagar of Marion, AR finished second and Jaden Bowling of Holden Beach, NC took the third spot.  Christopher Townsend of Tarkington, TX was fourth and Coen McDaniel of Gaffney, SC drove to a fifth-place finish.

               Chase Howard of Nesbit, MS started 15th and finished sixth to earn the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger of the Race Award.  NASCAR Cup Series driver and multi-winner of the NASCAR Talladega weekend event, at Talladega Short Track,  Ricky Stenhouse Jr. of Olive Branch, MS was seventh,and Jeff Willingham of Ripley, MS took the eighth spot.  Lance Moss of Cherryville, NC came home in ninth and Ronny Howard of Nesbit, MS rounded out the top ten.

               In preliminary action,  the three eight-lap Heat Races were won by Dale Howard in the Engler Machine & Tool First Heat, Bowling in the Butlerbuilt Second Heat, and Hayden Martin of Olive Branch, MS in the Schoenfeld Headers Third Heat.

               Dale Howard took the lead at the start of the 30-lap main event followed by Martin, Hagar, Bowling, and McDaniel.  Hagar passed Martin for second on lap two, and Bowling got by Martin for third on lap three.  Dale Howard had opened up a one second advantage over Hagar by the half⅚way point on lap 15.  Martin fell off the pace on lap 16 and brought out the caution flag on lap 17.

               The restart saw Dale Howard leading Hagar, Bowling, McDaniel and Townsend down for the green flag.  Townsend was able to get by McDaniel for fourth on the restart.  The field settled in for the second half of the race and Dale Howard took a 1.398 second margin of victory over Hagar under the checkered flag.
