SAMMY SWINDELL PICKS UP USCS BUCKSHOT WIN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

              CLANTON, AL  – August e1, 2024 -  Sammy Swindell of Germantown, TN won the United Sprint Car Series Presented by K&N Filters 30-lap Feature Race Saturday night at Buckshot Speedway.  The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee came from the fourth starting spot to take the lead on lap 11, and held off the field to the checkered flag.

               Hayden Martin of Olive Branch, MS finished second after leading five laps of the race.  Former USCS National Champion Jordon Mallett of Greenbrier, AR started eighth and took the third spot to earn the Wilwood Brakes Hard Charger of the Race Award.  Dale Howard of Byhalia, MS was fourth and Brad Bowden of Hernando, MS drove to a fifth-place finish.

Former USCS National Champion Morgan Turpen Gallatin, TN led the first five laps and was sixth.  Christopher Townsend of LaPorte, TX finished seventh and Alex Lyles of Arlington, TN took the eighth spot.  The defending and 15-time USCS National Champion National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN drove to a ninth-place finish, and Tyler Porter of Pinellas Park, FL rounded out the top ten.

               In preliminary action, Turpen-Havener won the six-lap Hoosier Racing Tire Speed Dash to earn the Pole Position for the 30-lap Main Event.  The three eight-lap Heat Races were won by Martin in the Engler Machine & Tool Heat 1, Turpen-Havener in the Butlerbuilt Racing Products Heat 2, and Bowden in the Racing Electronics Heat 3.

               Turpen-Havener took the lead at the start of the race followed by Martin, Howard, Swindell, and Bowden.  Swindell passed his teammate Howard for the third spot on lap three, and began to chase down Turpen-Havener and Martin.

               Martin got by Turpen-Havener for the lead on lap six, and Swindell passed Turpen-Havener for the second spot on lap seven.  Swindell passed Martin for the lead on lap 11, and then pulled away after three restarts after caution periods on lap 14, 22, and 23.

               The United Sprint Car Series Presented by K&N Filters will travel to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL for a Sunday night event during the Labor Day Weekend Holiday.  For more information about USCS, visit their website at uscsracing.com and the series Facebook page.
