Rain Wipes Out Early Wild West Shootout Card; Finale Still on for Later Sunday

SAN TAN VALLEY, Ariz. (January 15, 2017) – Continued rain overnight has forced the cancellation of Sunday’s Keyser Manufacturing Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts round rescheduled from Saturday night at Arizona Speedway.

While the 11:00 a.m. card featuring Super Late Models along with USRA Modifieds and X-Mods has been nixed due to wet grounds, the track crew is working diligently throughout the day to assure that the mini-series finale set to start at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday takes place as scheduled.

Rain checks from Saturday night’s rained out event will be honored at tonight’s Wild West Shootout finale as a $20 credit toward Sunday night’s admission.  Tickets for the Sunday night, January 15, finale are $25 for adults, $10 kids 6-12 with 5 and under admitted free.

Tonight’s 11th Annual Wild West Shootout finale will be headlined by a $12,000-to-win feature event for the four Black Diamond/Club 29 Super Late Models presented by M&W Transport courtesy of The Bakersfield Karting Experience.

Bobby Pierce, Ricky Thornton, Jr., and Travis Schulte take point leads into tonight’s finale.

Pierce has topped three of four Black Diamond/Club 29 Super Late Models presented by M&W Transport features thus far with Billy Moyer taking the other victory.  Though Pierce has dominated victory lane, his Wild West Shootout points lead is just 13 points over Chris Simpson.

Ricky Thornton, Jr., has won three of four MVT/Border International USRA Modified presented by Arizona Differential features to open up a 61-point lead over Dustin Strand while Travis Schulte has a mere one-point advantage over Rusty Kollman in the RHR Swag X-Mods presented by Barnett Harley-Davidson that have offered up four different winners in as many events.
