Ashton Winger Charges to Runner-Up Finish in Chevy World Championship
Cochran Motor Speedway Double Header Up Next

Hampton, Georgia (03/04/19) – Ashton Winger mounted a great charge in Saturday night’s Chevrolet World Championship finale at Bubba Raceway Park. Behind the wheel of his Johnny Doan Plumbing #12 Franklin Enterprises/ The Realty Queen & Team/ XR1 Rocket Chassis Late Model, Winger advanced from the 17th-starting position to a runner-up finish in the finale.

“I’ve been to Ocala twice now, and we’ve struggled every time we’ve hit the track, but we threw something at it before the feature on Saturday night and it finally worked real well,” Winger said after his impressive charge. “Hats off to Kyle Bronson because this is a tough place, and he’s clearly got it figured out. A big thanks goes out to this awesome team that I’ve got. It’s just a dream to get to go up and down the highway and race every weekend.”

After starting his weekend one night earlier by retiring early from the $2,000-to-win feature to a 19th-place finish, Ashton looked for better luck in Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win, Chevrolet Performance World Championship finale.

With 31 entries in action for the Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series sanctioned event, Winger earned the 17th-starting spot for the feature via preliminary action. As the race went green at the tricky, 3/8-mile oval he began slowly working his way through the field. By the late stages of the event Ashton climbed into the second spot and set his sights on race leader, Kyle Bronson. Winger briefly challenged Bronson for the top spot before the Florida native ultimately slipped away in lapped traffic.

Ashton went on to finish second with Wil Herrington, Joseph Joiner and Clay Harris completing the Top-5 finishers.

The upcoming weekend – March 8-9 – will find the team competing in their home state with a Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series event at Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia). Friday night’s event posts a $2,000 top prize, while Saturday’s feature pays $4,000 to the winner.

He advanced four spots to finish fifth with the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series at North Georgia Speedway.

“We went to Volusia for the last week of Speedweeks, and it just seemed like nothing could go right for us,” McIntosh recounted. “We kept our heads up though and went back home and went through everything. The hard work showed on Saturday night at North Georgia Speedway against a tough field of racers. We’ve still got a little more tweaking to do, but we are definitely getting closer to where we need to be.

Big Frog Motorsports and Tyler Clem Show Weekend Speed at BRP
Pair of Top-5 Finishes During Chevrolet World Championship Week

Ocala, Florida (03/04/19) – Big Frog Motorsports and Tyler Clem went into battle over the weekend with their M&W Transport No. 58 Dave’s Towing/ XR1 Rocket Chassis during the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Week.

Clem bagged a pair of Top-5 finishes in the first two rounds before suffering a heartbreaking DNF in the big finale.

“Our car had so much speed all weekend, and then it was really good on Saturday night,” Clem said. “We led the first 25 or so laps of the $10,000 race, and then after the first caution the car just didn’t want to go. Not sure if the tire sealed up or what under caution, but it was a tough one to swallow. Even though we aren’t totally sure what went wrong, I feel like I let the team down. I appreciate Big Frog Motorsports for giving me the chance to get back behind the wheel. I look forward to running more events for them later this year.”

On Friday night Tyler Clem hopped behind the wheel of the Big Frog Motorsports No. 58 Crate Late Model to kick off the final rounds of the Bubba Army Winternationals at Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida).

In a field of 26 Durrence Layne Winter Shootout Series entries, Tyler recorded the ninth-fastest time in qualifying before streaking to a 10-lap consolation victory. Earning the ninth-starting position for the opening night feature, Clem improved five spots to place fourth behind Kyle Bronson, Walker Arthur, and Logan Roberson with Nick Hoffman coming in fifth.

The following night, Clem laid down the second-fastest time in qualifying, positioning him 2nd on the starting grid for the A-Main. With $2,000 on the line, Tyler dropped three positions to notch a fifth-place finish behind Nick Hoffman, Jake Knowles, Devin Dixon, and Kyle Bronson.

For Saturday night’s Chevrolet Performance World Championship finale, Tyler secured his spot into the $10,000-to-win finale with a 10-lap heat race victory. Jumping out to the lead early, Clem held the top spot for the first 24 circuits until Kyle Bronson slipped past. After a handful of late-race restarts, Tyler Clem was an early retiree from the 100-lap affair on lap 74. He was credited with a 15th-place finish.

Rico Abreu highlights Las Vegas trip with top-five

Dates: Wednesday and Thursday, February 27 & 28
Event: FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: The Dirt Track at Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finishes (Start):
Wednesday: 4th (8th)
Thursday: DNQ [10th B-Main]

ST. HELENA, Calif. (March 4, 2019) - For the first time in 2019, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu entered competition against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, joining the Greatest Show On Dirt for a pair of starts at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas on Wednesday and Thursday, February 27 & 28.

Although his visit ended on a frustrating note, Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car, highlighted his week in Sin City with a top-five performance on Wednesday, February 27. The former World of Outlaws winner finished fourth to earn his notch in the top-five column, climbing ahead from the outside of row four.

“It wasn’t a bad week for us. Obviously, we were disappointed with how things ended on Thursday. We just had a hard time moving forward. Regardless, we’ll take the good with the bad and keep working hard,” Rico Abreu explained. “Fortunately, we have a lot of World of Outlaws starts on the calendar during the next few weeks. The intent is to build some momentum and hopefully get that first win of the year very soon.”

Utilizing a restart with just nine laps recorded, Abreu was as high as second on Wednesday night before a bobble in turns one and two forced the five-time winner in 2018 to surrender several positions. Eventually solidifying his place back inside the top-five, Abreu secured his fourth place finish with just two laps remaining, stealing the spot from fellow Californian native, Gio Scelzi.

Unfortunately, Rico Abreu’s top-five momentum did not make the shift into the Thursday night program. After missing a transfer spot in the heat race, Abreu was unable to make up any ground during the consolation B-main, ultimately settling for a tenth place finish after starting in the exact same position.

Up next on the schedule, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue to follow the World of Outlaws campaign trail and visit the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on Friday and Saturday, March 8 & 9. Abreu is certainly no stranger to competition at Thunderbowl Raceway when the Greatest Show On Dirt is in town, highlighting his 2018 efforts with a tenth place finish on Friday, March 9.

If all goes according to plan, Abreu will not only join the World of Outlaws during the two-day Thunderbowl venture, but the native of Napa Valley will also enter the King of Thunder 360 Sprint Car Series portion of the weekend program on Saturday.

Donny Schatz uses last lap pass to earn $10,000 jackpot in Las Vegas

Dates: Wednesday and Thursday, February 27 & 28
Event: FVP Platinum Battery Showdown presented by Star Nursery
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: The Dirt Track at Las Vegas (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Wednesday: 3rd (11th)
Thursday: 1st (1st)

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 2nd - 578 points (four points behind current leader, Daryn Pittman)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (March 4, 2019) - It only took four starts for Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz to drive his way to World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series victory lane, earning his place on top of the feature podium during a visit to The Dirt Track at Las Vegas on Thursday, February 28.

Including his victory on Thursday, Schatz’s two-day visit to Sin City resulted in back-to-back podium finishes for the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, initiating the week with an impressive climb from 11th to finish third on Wednesday, February 27.

“It was a solid week for this team. I think we were good enough to win on Wednesday, but to battle back and get a win on Thursday feels just as nice,” Donny Schatz explained, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car. “It feels good to get that first win of the season. All we can do now is keep working and find ways to keep winning. Lucky for me, I work with a team that makes that possible week in and week out.”

Donny Schatz’s podium run on Wednesday was the result of perseverance and determination. Forced to start 11th after failing to qualify for the evening’s dash, the result of a third place finish during heat race competition, Schatz charged forward in a hurry, actually advancing his way into the top-five by lap 15 of the 30-lap program. Although a clear candidate for top honors, Schatz was forced to settle for third, battling his way into the final podium spot with just one circuit remaining.

Although Schatz started from the pole position on Thursday night, the product of a dash victory and a runner-up finish during heat race competition, it was not an easy 30 laps for the defending World of Outlaws champion, eventually losing the top spot to Daryn Pittman on lap 14 after leading from the drop of the initial green.

Soon forced to do battle on an abrasive, rubbered-up racing surface, Schatz never surrendered and eventually reeled Pittman back in. Allowing lapped traffic to do most of the work, Schatz made his winning pass on the final circuit; a slingshot move on the highside of turns three and four while Pittman was caught behind slower cars. The highside move worked and proved to be worth $10,000.

“I didn’t think we’d get [Pittman],” Schatz continued. “But we hit traffic on the last corner. He went [low], and I was going the other place. It was either win it or wear it, and luckily, we won it.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2019 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a pair of starts at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on Friday and Saturday, March 8 & 9. Schatz will enter the weekend second in the World of Outlaws championship standings, a mere-four points behind Daryn Pittman.

Schatz finished third during his 2018 Thunderbowl Raceway appearance, improving two positions after starting fifth.
