Mason Zeigler Scores First-Career World of Outlaws Victory
Dirt Million at Mansfield Motor Speedway Up Next

Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania (08/19/19) – Mason Zeigler scored a milestone victory on Saturday evening in his MS Shock Therapy No. 25z JLE Industries/ Ohiopyle Vacation Rentals/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The Pennsylvania native topped a thrilling battle for the lead with Ricky Weiss at Port Royal Speedway to claim his first-career World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series win.

“This win has been a long time coming. We’ve been so close so many times. I told these guys before we went out, ‘We gotta keep this one in PA’,” Zeigler said in Victory Lane on Friday night at Port Royal Speedway. “We got a lot of laps around this place and I love coming here. It’s basically become like our home track, so it’s pretty cool to get our first Outlaw win here.

“I really want to thank my family, my team, my sponsors and everybody that has supports our racing efforts. We may have got a late start on the year, but we are rolling now and can’t wait to get to Mansfield this coming weekend for the Dirt Million.”

Mason Zeigler invaded Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania) on Friday night, where he was piloting his Ohiopyle Vacation Rentals No. 25z Super Late Model in the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series-sanctioned program. With 30 cars registered for battle, Zeigler edged his way into the opening night feature with the sixth-and-final transfer spot in his heat.

Rolling off 17th for the feature, Mason worked his way into the Top-10 early and was battling for a Top-5 finish until slipping over the cushion late in the race. He went on to rebound to an 11th-place finish

The following night at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania), Mason recorded the second-fastest lap in his time trial group before picking up a heat race victory. Receiving the pole position in the feature redraw, Zeigler shot out an early race lead until jumping the cushion on lap 30, while trying to pass a lapped car. The mishap allowed Ricky Weiss to shoot past for the lead.

Throughout the remaining circuits of the finale Zeigler tracked down Weiss as the duo began a feverish battle for the lead. Mason ultimately used the cushion to take back the lead in the closing laps en route to his first-career World of Outlaws victory. The triumph marked his third of his season and came over Weiss, Brandon Sheppard, Shane Clanton, and Rick Eckert. He earned $10,000 for his efforts.

Crossville, Tennessee (8/19/19) – A planned off weekend from racing abruptly turned into Jesse Lowes’ 17th win of 2019 on Friday night. Lowe raced his Xtreme Pressure Washing No. 5j Gondolas Pizza and Steakhouse/ CVR Race Car Crate Late Model to the victory at Tennessee’s Crossville Speedway.

The triumph marked the 99th of his career.

“We had planned to not race this weekend, but dad worked on the car all week, so we decided last minute to race. We got the win at Crossville on Friday night, which was definitely for my dad since he busted his tail all week,” Lowe said. “Then we fought electrical issues all night at 411 Motor Speedway on Saturday night, but still got a third out of the deal. This week I’m looking forward to getting back after my pursuit of the UCRA title and hopefully my 100th feature win.”

On Friday evening Jesse Lowe was a late arrival to Crossville Speedway (Crossville, Tennessee). The team arrived just before hot laps, but that didn’t slow Lowes’ roll. He earned the pole position for the feature, and then led every circuit to score his 17th win of 2019. Colton Proffitt, Andy Miller, Anthony Conley and Michael Smith completed the Top-5 finishers.

Saturday night took the team to Mitch McCarter’s 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee). Jesse started fourth in the feature, and despite fighting mechanical gremlins still notched a third-place finish behind race winner, Trevor Sise, and Zach Sise.

“Once again, we had a heck of a car every time that we hit the track. We won on Friday and Saturday, and if not for losing power steering on Thursday night we might’ve been able to sweep all three shows,” Taylor said. “Not only are we getting faster every time that we hit the track, but all of our Shaw Race Cars clients are progressively gaining speed. Donny Schatz on top at River Cities, reclaims WoO championship point lead

Date: Friday, August 16th
Event: Second Leg of Northern Tour
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, North Dakota)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (6th)

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 1st - 6652 points (24-point lead over Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 19, 2019) - Despite entering the weekend behind in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship chase, ten-time and defending Series champion, Donny Schatz, ended his two-race turned one-race campaign into a triumph, ultimately retaking control of the World of Outlaws championship standings over season rival, Brad Sweet.

The victory, taking shape at the always-exciting River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, on Friday, August 16, not only allowed Schatz the opportunity to win in his home state, but it also bumped his season total to eight; a perfect momentum boost as the Series looks west toward a multi-race West Coast Swing.

Schatz, who started sixth on the feature grid, took command from recent Knoxville Nationals champion, David Gravel, with a diving move on lap 17, ultimately driving under the Connecticut-native as the duo battled through turns three and four to complete the circuit.

“Unreal,” said Schatz in River Cities victory lane after claiming his ninth win in the last 11 races at the speedway. “We had a plan from the word go to be good at the end. The track kind of came around to us. Not bad for a North Dakota boy and a South Dakota boy (Schatz’s crew chief Steve Swenson). I think that was an ass whooping there.”

Action scheduled for Saturday, August 17, at Red River Valley Speedway was halted due to Mother Nature.

Donny Schatz will continue his quest toward an 11th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series title this Friday and Saturday with a doubleheader weekend headlined in South Dakota and Montana. The Fargo, North Dakota-native will visit Black Hills Speedway in Rapid City, South Dakota, on Friday, August 23, followed by a stop at Big Sky Speedway in Shepherd, Montana, on Saturday, August 24.

Event: 58th Annual Johnny Key Classic

Although the former event champion was unable to claim the $5,000-to-win showstopper in 2019, Abreu accomplished the next best feat and hard charged his way to a podium performance; rallying from 13th to finish third at the final checkers.

Unfortunately, an abrasive surface kept Abreu from any further advancement after battling his way to third.

The driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/Dewalt/MAC Tools/Self Made Racing/Dancer Logistics/No. 24 earned his way into the Civil War Series main event by finishing second during his respective heat race, kicking off the evening with the ninth fastest time during qualifying time trials.

“That was a lot of fun,” Rico Abreu said, who owns four victories in 2019. “I wish the track stayed racey. The last 25 laps of the 50 laps got pretty narrow, so we basically had to stay in our spot. I think we were good enough to win. We have a lot of our plate this week so we’ll see how it goes.”

Up next on the schedule, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will venture to four events in four days, crisscrossing much of Northern California with the King of the West-NARC Sprint Car Series. Action will commence on Wednesday, August 21, at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, California, followed by a stop at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, on Thursday, August 22.
