The event began on a strange note as in an effort to curb debate over spoiler size, track officials allowed defending race winner, Jack Sullivan, to make a call on whether or not the cars would run spoilers at all. Sullivan made the decision to race without spoilers so all cars had their spoilers removed for the program. Twenty-one Super Late Models registered for battle, and via his heat race performance Kyle earned the outside-front-row starting spot alongside Justin Wells for the $2,500-to-win finale. As the feature went green Beard assumed the second spot and would fall as far back as the third spot. However, he quickly raced back to the second spot, and on lap 15, when the leader, Wells, jumped the cushion, Kyle took advantage and claimed the lead. His path to victory would be far from easy though as contact with a lap car three laps later almost eliminated Beard. Luckily he was able to keep rolling and maintained the lead. Kyle went on to fend off a late-race charge from soon to be father-in-law, Terry Phillips to score the victory. Phillips, Justin Wells, Jack Sullivan, and Matt Johnson rounded out the top five at the checkered flag. The victory was the second of the season for Beard. A third place finish in the b-main locked Beard into the seventeenth starting spot for the finale. Despite starting deep in the field Kyle marched through the pack on his way to a sixth place finish behind race winner, Jesse Stovall, Terry Phillips, Jack Sullivan, Justin Zeitner, and Dustin Mooneyham. Full results are available at www.SpringfieldRaceway.com. As the heat went green Kyle nosed ahead to take the lead heading into turn one, but as he slid up the track he didn't clear Rickman as the two made contact. Luckily both drivers were able to continue, and Beard would go on to claim the heat race win, which locked him into the second starting spot for the 75 lap feature on Saturday night with Ronny Lee Hollingsworth starting alongside. As the finale went green Beard jumped to the lead over Hollingsworth and would maintain the top spot until a lap 22 restart when Hollingsworth slipped past. Three laps later Beard drove back to the lead and would hold the top spot until lap 41, when Bub McCool took over. The remaining laps of the finale saw Beard begin to battle the handle on his entry as he faded to a sixth place finish behind race winner, Bub McCool, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Josh Putnam, Timothy Culp, and Billy Moyer Jr. Full results are available at www.GreenvilleSpeedway.net.

However, prior to the feature the team would discover a possible valve spring issue.
