Bone Jr. Wins COMP Cams SMP Finale; Schmidt Wins Title
South Coffeyville, Oklahoma (07/23/11) – Johnny Bone Jr. continued his hot streak by topping the finale of the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek on Saturday night at Mid America Speedway (South Coffeyville, Oklahoma).
For the second straight event Johnny Bone Jr. would lead the duration of the feature to claim the win, but it would not come easily as he received various challenges from Terry Beckham II and Dustin Boney early in the event for the top spot in the $2,000-to-win event.
However, when the checkered flag dropped Bone Jr. had stretched his lead to a comfortable advantage as he won his third event of the week. He was followed across the finish line by Terry Beckham, Dustin Boney, Brent Holman, and Josh Griggs.
Kyle Schmidt from Farmington, Arkansas claimed the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek Championship by 14 markers over Justin Rexwinkle. Allen Chickering, Johnny Bone Jr., and John Allen rounded out the top five in the final stnadings.

Kyle Schmidt Gets First COMP Cams SMP Win After Disqualification
Grain Valley, MO (07/20/11) – After a two night break the 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek rolled into the tight confines of Valley Speedway on Wednesday night, and it was Kyle Schmidt, who was declared the winner of the 30 lap feature in front of the facilities' biggest crowd of the year after initial winner, Nathan Mayes, was disqualified.
Jim Moody of Bates City, Missouri started the night by setting fast time in his group and overall with a 15.233 second lap around the ¼ mile oval to earn the MRW Racing Wheel Pole Award for the feature. He was joined on the front row by Tim Setzer. Dustin Boney and Matt Dotson also locked into the main event by setting fast time in their respective groups.
As the feature went green it was Setzer, who shot to the lead, with Boney, Moody, and Chad Lyle applying heavy pressure. Setzer would lead until the first caution flew on lap 3 for a multi-car incident in turns 1 and 2.
When the race went green flag again a great battle began to rage for the lead as Setzer, Lyle, and Boney battled three wide. However, Boney’s luck would take a turn for the worst on lap 7, when he and Setzer made contact, causing Boney’s right front tire to go flat as he brought out the caution.
The next restart would see Shad Badder race past Setzer for the top spot as race fans began to notice that 15th starting, Nathan Mayes, had advanced to the fourth spot by lap 15. Four laps later Mayes would move to the second spot as he set his sights on the leader, Badder.
A lap 21 caution bunched the field with Badder in the lead over Mayes, Lyle, Setzer, and Kyle Schmidt. Two laps after returning to green flag action Mayes would use the low line exiting turn two to claim the lead. Despite a pair of late race cautions he would claim the initial win over Schmidt, Lyle, Badder, and Townsend.
However, the unthinkable would happen to the winner, when he failed to report to the scales after the race, resulting in his disqualification, and the awarding of the win to Farmington, Arkansas’ driver, Kyle Schmidt. The revised balance of the top five included Lyle, Badder, Townsend, and Setzer.
The RacingJunk.com first heat was won by Austin Siebert with Chad Lyle winning the MRW Racing Wheels second heat. Kyle Schmidt claimed the win in the B&B Racing Supply third heat, and Shad Badder won the MSRMafia.com fourth heat.

John Allen Tops COMP Cams SMP Speedweek Action at Thunderbird Speedway
Muskogee, OK (07/17/11) – The 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek rolled into Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) on Sunday night for the third round of the series, and when the final checkered flag dropped it was John Allen, who had claimed his first ever series triumph.
Chad Lyle from Oak Grove, Missouri set fast time in his group and overall in MRW Racing Wheels Pole Qualifying to earn the pole starting spot for the 25 lap, main event with Saturday night’s winner, Johnny Bone Jr., joining him on the front row.
After a few unsuccessful attempts to get the race underway, Bone Jr. jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag with Lyle, George Martin, and John Allen in tow.
Bone Jr. would quickly motor to a one second advantage by the time that the caution waved on lap 7 for debris. On the ensuing restart Bone Jr. would again stretch his advantage as John Allen moved into the second spot past Chad Lyle on lap 12. The next few laps would see Bone’s lead begin to shrink, and on lap 15, Bone Jr. would retire to the infield with terminal issues as Allen inherited the lead.
Lap 18 would see the event’s final caution flag wave as Allen Chickering detonated a motor down the front stretch. On the next restart the battle for the lead would become intense as Allen grasped to the top spot as Lyle applied heavy pressure. Over the course of the final five laps the duo would battle side-by-side before Allen pulled away on the final lap to take the win by a car length. He was followed across the line by Lyle, George Martin, Brett Hansen, and Kyle Schmidt.
The RacingJunk.com first heat was won by Kyle Schmidt with John Allen winning the MRW Racing Wheels second heat.
The 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek, will take two nights off before resuming its campaign on Wednesday night, July 20th at Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri) with a $1,500 to win/$125 to start, 30 lap event. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com.

Dustin Boney Wins a Thriller in COMP Cams SMP Opener at Humboldt Speedway
Humboldt, KS (07/15/11) – The 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek opened on Friday night at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas) as Dustin Boney outdueled Johnny Bone Jr. and a field of 35 competitors representing four states to claim the $1,500 win.
Terry Beckham II of Webb City, Missouri started the night by blazing to the fastest time in qualifications to earn the MRW Racing Wheel Pole Qualifier Award. He was joined on the front row by Dustin Boney. Tim Karrick and Luke Driskell also set fast time in their respective groups to lock into the second row starting spots for the 30 lap feature.
As the race went green, Beckham shot to the lead with Boney, Karrick, Driskell, and Jess Folk Jr. in pursuit. As Beckham worked the low side, Boney set up for business on the cushion, and exiting turn four on lap two it would be Boney, who bolted to the lead.
Over the next several laps Boney would creep away from the field as a great battle began to rage behind Beckham II for third between Karrick, Folk Jr., and Johnny Bone Jr. The leaders would catch lap traffic by lap 11, and the event’s first caution flag would wave on lap 15 of the feature as Chance Bishop slowed in turn two.
As the race prepared to resume green flag conditions Boney maintained the lead with Beckham II, Folk Jr., Karrick, and Bone in tow. Folk Jr. would work past Beckham II for the second spot on the restart and would hold the position until Johnny Bone Jr. worked his way past Beckham II on lap 19 to take possession of the second spot. Over the next four laps, Bone Jr. would make a serious dent in Boney’s lead, and by the time that the caution flag flew for a driveshaft on the track on lap 23, Bone had pulled even with the leader.
The crowd eagerly anticipated the ensuing restart and remaining seven laps, and they wouldn’t be disappointed as Boney and Bone Jr. would battle side-by-side for the duration of the closing laps before Boney claimed the win by half a car length at the checkered flag over Bone Jr., Jess Folk Jr., Whitey Folk, and John Allen.
The RacingJunk.com first heat was won by Jess Folk Jr. with Whitey Folk winning the MRW Racing Wheels second heat. Johnny Bone Jr. claimed the B&B Racing Supply third heat, and Ryan Whitworth took top honors in the MSRMafia.com fourth heat. The Racing Header Service last chance qualifier was won by Justin Rexwinkle.
The 2nd Annual COMP Cams SMP Speedweek, will host its second event of the week on Saturday, July 16th at Brills Motor Speedway (Meeker, Oklahoma) with a $1,500 to win/$125 to start event. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com.

Clyde Dunn Jr. COMP Cams SMP Action at Lone Star Speedway
Kilgore, TX (06/09/11) – Clyde Dunn Jr. led all thirty laps in Round #4 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) to claim the $1,500 win.
Once again twenty-six cars entered the event and qualifying was led by local standout, Justin Ingalls from Longview, Texas, and as a result Ingalls earned the pole position for the main event with Clyde Dunn Jr. starting to his outside. Dunn Jr. jumped to the lead at the drop of the green flag with Bobby Malchus, Justin Ingalls, Jason Ingalls, and Tyler Townsend in tow.
The first caution of the event flew on lap two as third running, Justin Ingalls slowed with an expired engine.
With the race resuming green flag conditions it was Dunn Jr. surviving a series of cautions to claim the win over his teammate, Bobby Malchus, Tyler Townsend, TJ Herndon, and Mike Dillard.
A hot lap incident brought Stormy Scott’s week to a likely end with heavy chassis damage. With two events remaining, Peyton Taylor leads the way with Tyler Townsend just two points back in second and TJ Herndon four points back in third.
Round #5 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek will see the tour in action at RMP Speedway (Crandall, Texas) with another $1,500 to win/$125 to start event on Friday, June 10th. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.RPMSpeedwayofTexas.com .

Townsend Wins in COMP Cams SMP Action at Lake Country Speedway
Ardmore, OK (06/08/11) – Tyler Townsend got an early race reprieval in Round #3 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service at Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma), and took advantage of it to claim the win in the $1,500 feature.
After setting fast time Tyler Townsend started on the pole with Jason Hughes to his outside for the main event. As the race went green it was Hughes, who bolted to the lead, with Townsend, Randy Timms, Jared Webb, and Peyton Taylor in tow.
As the field completed the second lap Townsend would catch a break as he spun out of turn two, but not before Jay Sale was involved in an accident down the front stretch and was credited with the caution. As a result, Townsend would retain the second position, and as the race went back green he would start to pressure Hughes for the lead.
The front running duo would battle at the front of the pack and as lap 9 was completed Townsend used a strong run on the inside to inch ahead. Through turns one and two the leaders would battle side-by-side before making contact heading into turn three, which sent Hughes off the end of the track to bring out the caution. A displeased Hughes would let it be known to Townsend before joining the back of the pack for a few laps before retiring.
Townsend would go on to run away from the field over the remainder of the event to claim the win over Randy Timms, Peyton Taylor, Jared Webb, and TJ Herndon.
Round #4 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek will see the tour invade Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) with another $1,500 to win/$125 to start event on Thursday, June 9th. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.LoneStarSpeedway.com.

Hughes Tops COMP Cams SMP Action at Lake Country Speedway

Jason Hughes in Victory Lane (ThrillerPhoto.com)
Ardmore, OK (06/07/11) – Jason Hughes mounted a late race charge to score the win in Round #2 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service at Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) on Tuesday night.
Making his first appearance on the tour of 2011, it was Oklahoma City’s Randy Timms, who blazed to the fastest time in Todd’s Body Shop/MRW Racing Wheels time trials to earn the pole position for the main event. He was joined on the front row by Peyton Taylor from Batesville, Arkansas.
As the race went green it was Timms, who bolted to the lead with Taylor and Tyler Townsend battling side-by-side for second behind the leader. With Timms creeping away from the field, Taylor finally took sole possession of the second spot by lap five with Townsend, Kevin Clement, and Jason Hughes in tow.
By the time that the field reached the halfway point, he had a full straightaway advantage on second place runner, Peyton Taylor, and looked to be on his way to the comfortable win, but sixth starting, Jason Hughes, had other ideas. Hughes would catch Taylor and pass him with ten laps to go with still a straightaway handicap to leader, Randy Timms.
Over the next five laps Hughes would erase the lead and exiting turn two on the 25th circuit, Hughes would inch ahead of Timms. Over the remaining five laps Hughes would race his way away from the pack to claim the win over Timms, Taylor, Stormy Scott, and Kevin Clement.
Round #3 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek will see the tour back at Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) on Wednesday night, June 8th with another $1,500 to win/$125 to start event. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.LakeCountrySpeedwayOK.com .

Stormy Scott Conquers COMP Cams SMP At Paris Motor Speedway; Brills Canceled
Paris, TX (06/05/11) – Stormy Scott topped the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service opener at Paris Motor Speedway in Paris, Texas on Sunday evening in front of the largest crowd of the year at the ¼ mile oval.
With 38 cars entered, it was Las Cruces, New Mexico’s Johnny Scott who earned the pole position for the feature event via time trials with Trevor Egbert from Salado, Texas, starting to his outside. At the drop of the green flag Johnny Scott bolted to the lead with his brother, Stormy Scott, in second and Egbert in third.
The event’s lone caution would fly as a car rolled to a stop at the top of turn four as the field completed lap one. At the time of the caution the top five in the running order consisted of Johnny Scott, Stormy Scott, Trevor Egbert, Clyde Dunn, and Jared Webb.
As the race resumed green flag action, Stormy Scott would begin applying heavy pressure to his brother for the lead, and exiting turn two on lap four, Stormy would inch ahead to claim a lead he would never relinquish. Over the remainder of the event, Stormy would race away from the field to claim the win half a track over Johnny Scott, Trevor Egbert, Clyde Dunn, and Colby Smith.
Round #2 of the COMP Cams SMP Longhorn Speedweek was scheduled for Monday night at Brills Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma. However, representatives with the track indicated that due to equipment issues the event would have to be canceled. As a result, an unsanctioned, non-points event will be held on Monday at Lake Country Speedway (Ardmore, Oklahoma) as a $500 to win/$100 to start tune-up race will be held for the two COMP Cams SMP point’s events, which will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday night, June 7th & 8th. The COMP Cams SMP tour would like to thank Lake Country Speedway for stepping up to the plate to put on the last minute show to give racers somewhere to race. Even though Monday night’s event will not be sanctioned the COMP Cams SMP staff will be on hand to support the event and encourages all fans and racers to support it as well! Rodney Sanders Takes SMP Finale; Chickering Wins Speedweek Points
South Coffeyville, Oklahoma (07/17/10) – After a week of unbelievably bad luck, Rodney Sanders from Happy, Texas finally got things turned around on Saturday night by claiming the win in the final round of the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service at Mid America Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma.
Rodney Sanders became the fifth different winner in as many nights on the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek on Saturday night after topping a field of 37 competitors, representing eight states. However, the win did not come easy for the Texas driver.
At the start of the race it was Morgan Bagley assuming control of the top spot, which he would hold for the first four laps before Whitey Folk took control of the top spot. Folk would enjoy a comfortable lead for the next several laps as Jeremy Ross worked his way to the second spot. However, bad luck would strike for Ross a few laps later, when his j-bar broke, bringing his night to an end.
As Folk enjoyed his advantage at the front, the driver on the move was sixteenth starting, Rodney Sanders, who was braving the extreme high side of the track to charge through the pack.
A lap 25 restart would see Sanders rocket past Folk on the topside to take the lead. Two laps later Folk would pull to the infield with a broken j-bar.
Sanders would lead the last couple of laps to take the $1,500 win over Rodney Siggs, John Webb, Morgan Bagley, and Johnny Bone Jr.
Allen Chickering from Okarche, Oklahoma claimed the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Championship with Randy Todd, Hunter Rasdon, Rodney Sanders, and Jeremy Ross rounding out the top five.
With the 2010 COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service officially in the history books, plans are already underway for the 2011 edition of the tour, which will be even bigger and better. Tracks interested in booking dates should contact Michael Luna at 931-510-1482. More information will soon be available, so please stay tuned to www.SMPSeries.com

Johnny Bone Jr. Conquers COMP Cams SMP At Caney Valley Speedway
Caney Valley, KS (07/16/10) – Johnny Bone Jr. overcame lapped traffic and a late race charge from Jesse Stovall to win the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Event Presented By Racing Head Service at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas.
After finishing second earlier in the week at Thunderbird Speedway in his only other COMP Cams SMP Speedweek start, Johnny Bone Jr. started the night by setting fast time in MRW Race Wheels Qualifying with a lap of 14.98 second around the ¼ mile oval. He was joined on the front row by Mickey Burrell for the 30 lap main event and the front row starters would see the first two starts waved off due to cautions for spun cars. The third attempt to get the race underway would be successful, and Bone Jr. would jump to the lead over Burrell, Jesse Stovall, Allen Chickering, and Randy Todd.
Lap three would find Bone comfortably in the lead, while Burrell and Stovall battled side-by-side for second. Two laps later Stovall would take over the second position, while Burrell faded to the fifth spot.
Stovall found himself a straightaway behind the leader by lap ten as the battle for third commanded the crowd’s attention with Randy Todd, Rodney Sanders, and Hunter Rasdon battling three wide.
Shortly after the halfway point, Bone Jr. would find himself in heavy lapped traffic as Stovall began to close in on him. Traffic would begin to wreak havoc for the top two cars over the next few laps, which allowed third place runner, Rodney Sanders, to make up ground on the leader.
The remainder of the event would see the leaders navigating heavy traffic, and as the lead trio came to the white flag the crowd came to their feet as Stovall tried a daring move on the outside for the lead in turns one and two. However, Bone Jr. would slam the door as he went on to lead the last half lap en route to the $1,500 payday. Stovall, Sanders, Rasdon, and Tommy Weder Jr. rounded out the top five.
The final round of the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek will be held at Mid America Speedway in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma on Saturday night, July 17th. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.MidAmericaSpeedway.com .

Randy Todd Claims Creek County COMP Cams SMP Cash
Kellyville, Oklahoma (07/15/10) – Before this week, Randy Todd from Lexington, Tennessee had not even seen any of the tracks, where he is competing, but on Thursday night that did not matter as he topped the 30 lap main event in Round #4 of the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service at Creek County Speedway.
Despite threatening weather throughout the afternoon and early evening, twenty-nine Open Wheel Modifieds entered the $1,500 to win event. After setting fast time in MRW Pole Qualifying John Webb from Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma started on the pole for the feature with Randy Todd to his outside.
The first attempt to get the race underway would be nixed as several cars spun in turn one. The field lined up for a complete double file restart, and it was Todd who snagged the early advantage over Webb, Steve Lacy, and Brett Washburn. As Todd built a three car length advantage in the early going, the battle for the second spot became red hot as Lacy and Webb began to battle it out.
The second and final caution of the event flew on lap three as Alan Sharpensteen and Tony Anderson tangled in turn one. Both drivers would be able to continue as the joined the back of the pack.
On the ensuing restart, Lacy jumped to the second spot as Webb began to fade with Matt French working his way up to the third spot. By lap ten the leaders were catching lapped traffic, and one lap later French would move to the second spot as he began to reel in the leader.
The 12th circuit would find the leaders in lapped traffic and things began to heat up for the lead. As the race passed the halfway point the top five in the running order consisted of Todd, French, Allen Chickering, Lacy, and Webb. While Todd still maintained the lead his advantage was far from comfortable as French and Chickering were rapidly closing in lapped traffic. Entering turn one on lap 20 Todd would move up the track to work through lapped traffic, and French pulled door to door with him as the pair battled side-by-side for the lead.
Entering turn one on the next lap, the duo would make contact, which opened the door for Chickering to pounce. One lap later the top three would flare three-wide exiting turn four for the lead before Todd jumped back to sole-possession of the lead.
Randy Todd went on to lead the last few laps of the race to claim the win over Matt French, Allen Chickering, Steve Lacy, and Rodney Sanders.
Round #5 of the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek will be held at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kansas on Friday night, July 16th. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.CaneyValleySpeedway.net .

Jason Hughes Hammers COMP Cams SMP Foes At Thunderbird
Muskogee, Oklahoma (07/14/10) – Westville, Oklahoma’s Jason Hughes made his debut in COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service action on Wednesday night at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma and made his presence strongly known by sweeping the action to claim the $1,500 win.
Thirty-two Open Wheel Modifieds, representing eight states, converged on the legendary Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Wednesday night. In MRW Wheels Pole Qualifying it was Jason Hughes, who blazed to the fastest lap around the ½ mile oval with a 21.84 second lap.
Via his qualifying effort he started on the pole for the feature, and was flanked to his outside by Hunter Rasdon from Jonesboro, Arkansas. As the race got underway in front of a large enthusiastic crowd, Hughes shot to the lead with Rasdon, Johnny Bone Jr., Allen Chickering, and Jesse Stovall in pursuit. Rasdon would slip high in turn three on the first lap making contact with the wall. He would recover, but not before losing several spots.
Meanwhile, at the front of the pack, Hughes was already entering a different zip code. By lap 10 he held a straight away lead over Bone Jr. as the battle on the track was for the third through fifth spots as several cars battled for the spot. Stovall would clear the battle for third by the race’s midway point, but remained a distant third.
Hughes would go on to claim the comfortable win by over a straightaway in the caution free event with Johnny Bone Jr., Jesse Stovall, Terry Beckham II (started 11th), and Randy Timms rounding out the top five.
Randy Timms leads the current COMP Cams Sooner Speedweek points.

Randy Timms Tops COMP Cams SMP Action at Brills Motor Speedway
Meeker, Oklahoma (07/13/10) – Randy Timms overcame a great battle with Jessie Stovall and Allen Chickering to claim the win in the opener for the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek Presented By Racing Head Service on Tuesday night at Brill’s Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma.
A talent-laden field of 52 entries representing eight states entered the opening round of the COMP Cams SMP Speedweek on Tuesday night at Brill’s Motor Speedway. In MRW Racing Wheels Pole Qualifying it was Allen Chickering from Okarche, Oklahoma, who blazed to the fastest time to earn the pole for the feature. He was to be joined by Jeff Autry on the front row for the 30 lap feature event, but mechanical woes after time trials forced Autry to scratch, and he was replaced by Doug Bragg.
As the feature got underway Chickering bolted to the lead with Jesse Stovall, Rodney Sanders, Bragg, and Randy Todd in tow. The field would only complete one lap as the first caution flew for Rodney Sanders, who slowed with mechanical issues. He would head pitside, but would not return.
On the ensuing restart Chickering and Stovall began battling side-by-side for the top spot, and would do so for the next five laps before the caution flew again as Randy Todd slowed with a flat tire. At the time of the caution the top five running order consisted of Chickering, Stovall, Randy Timms (who started 8th), William Gould, and Bragg.
With the green flag in the air once again, a great three car battle began to transpire for the lead with Chickering, Stovall, and Timms flaring three wide at times. Stovall would take control of the top spot on the 10th circuit, but he would be kept in close check by Chickering and Timms. Timms would slip by in traffic to take the lead on the 23rd circuit before Stovall regained the lead one lap later.
It appeared that Stovall would claim the win, but approaching the white flag, the rearend in his car broke forcing him to the infield, and allowing Randy Timms to inherit the lead. Timms went on to lead the final two laps of the race to take the win over Allen Chickering, William Gould, Tommy Weder Jr., and Patrick Linn.
Round #2 of the COMP Cams SMP Sooner Speedweek will be held at Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on Wednesday night, July 14th. For more information, please visit www.SMPSeries.com and www.ThunderbirdSpeedwayMuskogee.com .
